Well raising the bar by +-450mm to be exact.
Have you ever wished you had a little more space to get in underneath a car to clean the undercarriage, suspension bits, exhaust, etc? Or wished that you could get some relief for an aching back as you contort yourself to get to the lower sections of a car when machine polishing? Well I often have and decided to do something about it. I bought the material for this project last year already and it has been laying in my garage waiting for me to gain some inspiration.
The project - a ramp that will allow me to park a car 450mm off the ground allowing better access to the undercarriage and raising the lower sections of the body panels to a more convenient polishing height. The ramp consists of a left and right section, each made up of separately bolted together sections measuring 2m (to allow disassembly for moving the ramp). The total ramp therefore measures 6m from end to end.
Some pictures - This was my first experience welding, but I had the assistance of a proficient welder to help me. I just got to weld the less important areas
